Apply for YEA! Grants The Piqua Community Foundation’s next group of Youth Enrichment Activities Grants will be awarded in November 2008. The grants are available to projects that provide youth enrichment activities for Piqua youth, and may be given to schools, churches or other not-for-profit organizations with youth oriented missions. “The purpose of a YEA! Grant is not to fund everyday needs, but rather to offer unique opportunities to youth from Piqua,” explained Karen Wendeln, executive director of The Piqua Community Foundation. “We will award grants of up to $1000 to programs that are creative and innovative, and that will provide our young people with experiences to expand their horizons and help them grow socially and culturally.” YEA! Grant applications are available by contacting The Piqua Community Foundation office by phone, mail, fax, or e-mail. Completed applications are due in the Foundation office no later than September 15, 2008. YEA! Grants in prior years have allowed youth to experience the Underground Railroad Freedom Center, a live performance of Hamlet, and a special performance of the MadCap Puppets. Students have learned speed stacking, sewing skills and chess, and have created a recycling program and an original tile mural through money provided by YEA! Grants. These grants are being funded this year through the generosity of the George B. Quatman Foundation, Fifth Third Bank Trustee. Additional donations may be made to the Community Foundation office. |
