G. William Hartzell
The Board of Directors of The Piqua Community Foundation recently announced the establishment of the G. William Hartzell Charitable Fund, a new donor advised fund held by The Foundation.
George William “Bill” Hartzell was instrumental in continuing the Hartzell family businesses in Piqua for many years, and was a major supporter of the Piqua community. Mr. Hartzell passed away on April 30 of last year; a bequest made as a result of his estate planning will allow the fund to financially continue his generosity to the community.
An advisory committee recommends grant recipients, making distributions of two types as Mr. Hartzell had specified. Beginning in May 2017, the fund will be making scholarships available to worthy local students attending institutions of higher learning. In the fall of each year, the fund will be making grants to charitable not-for-profit organizations serving Piqua area residents. These grants will provide unrestricted funding for some of the organizations providing important programming for our local citizens.
Because of the size of the fund, the grants and scholarships will make a significant difference in the lives of the students and community organizations that receive them. The Foundation is proud to be able to continue Mr. Hartzell’s long history of generosity to his fellow Piqua residents.
"Providing your opportunity to enrich our community!"
